Lesson Agreement

Howdy! I am so excited to have the opportunity to teach you! Teaching is something I have

worked hard at, and I value my teaching abilities greatly. As I get to know you better and as you

get to know me better, I hope you will value my teaching abilities as well. I always welcome any

questions or concerns you might have. Never hesitate to talk to me about any issues, whether it

is regarding proficiency, progression, scheduling, or anything in between.

What You Can Expect from Me

I thoroughly enjoy teaching and getting to know my students. Part of the joy that comes from

playing guitar is teaching students that are willing to put in the work to reach those “aha!”

moments in their learning. That is what makes teaching special and worth my time as well as

the student’s time. Some students progress faster than others, and that is to be expected.

However, some students are simply unwilling to put in the time and effort it takes to learn an

instrument. I will never give up on any student, but a lack of effort on a student’s part inevitably

results in a lack of effort on my part. That is why I say this: the more you put into it, the more

you get out of it. I don’t expect all of my students to be rockstars (though hopefully most will

be), but I do expect them to work. I will ALWAYS be patient and tailor each lesson to the

student, no matter their specific needs.

Student Materials

Each student should make sure they have the following materials prior to their first lesson;

- JustinGuitar Beginner’s Course Book

- A clip on tuner. I recommend a Snark Tuner

- A metronome. I like this one, but any metronome will do.

- A music stand. You don’t realize how much you need one until you’re forced to put your

book on the floor. Again, any stand will probably work, but I like this one.

- A capo. A capo is a device that raises the pitch of your strings when you clamp it onto

the neck of the guitar. Not all capos are created equal, and though most will be just fine,

I love these Kyser capos.

- A guitar strap. You’ll definitely want one of these, and you can pick them up at any

music store or even Amazon.

- Notebook & writing utensil

Lesson Policies

- If you need to reschedule or cancel a lesson, please do so within 24 hours of our

lesson. You can easily reschedule your lesson time from the reminder email you’ll

receive a day before our lesson takes place, or from your Culture Verse Studios account,

which we will talk about creating at our first lesson.

- If you are unable to make our lesson during the week and unable to reschedule for a

different time during the week, you will be issued a “make-up credit”, which allows you

to schedule a make-up lesson at any time in the future. You will be given the option to

use any accrued make up credits on your Culture Verse Account. Make sure to make

good use of these so we can stay on track!

. The aforementioned policies apply to all cancellation or rescheduling reasons (sickness,

vacation, conflict, etc.). Remember that learning an instrument is a commitment, just

like being on a sports or dance team. I want whoever I teach to have fun first and

foremost, but also to take our learning and lessons together seriously. I will make every

effort to make sure we stay on track and get any missed lessons rescheduled. You will

not be charged for any lessons if I am sick or on vacation and we are unable to

determine a make-up time.

- For holidays and school breaks, a total of $40 per each lesson day missed will be

deducted from the following month’s invoice.

- If you are 15+ minutes late to our lesson, this will count as a “no show” and you will

still be charged for that lesson.

- I charge $160 per month of private lessons. This amount is prorated if you start at any

time other than the beginning of a month. Payment for an entire month of lessons is

prepaid and due by the first of each month. If payment is not made by the 3rd of the

month, a late fee of $5 will be assessed. You will receive an emailed invoice 5 days prior

to the first of the month. There is an option to pay directly from the invoice, which you

will receive by email. You may also use Venmo to pay, if you prefer (@cultureverse).

- I do my scheduling on a month-to-month basis. Your signature means that you agree

to an entire month of lessons and that you agree to pay in full for an entire month of

lessons, even if you decide to discontinue lessons at any time during the month.
